Munch Privacy Policy

Munch ("the App") respects and protects the privacy of all users. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: the email address you provide when registering. Passwords are stored encrypted; we cannot read them in plain text.
• Content you create: pantry items, saved recipes, meal votes, cooking records, shopping lists and similar. This data is stored locally on your device by default and, once you sign in, can be synced to the cloud for use across your devices.
• Images: when you use receipt scanning or attach photos to a cooking record, you grant access to your camera / photo library. Receipt images are sent to a third-party AI service for item recognition (see section 3).

The App does not collect your location, contains no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs, and does not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

2. How we use information

• To provide account sign-in and cloud data synchronisation;
• To recognise receipt contents, recommend recipes, and summarise your inventory and meal data;
• To send transactional account emails (registration codes, password resets).

3. Third-party services

• Supabase: account authentication and cloud data storage.
• DeepSeek: when you use receipt scanning, the photo you take is sent to DeepSeek AI for ingredient recognition. This processing is solely to return the recognition result; we do not use it to store your images for any other purpose.
• Resend: delivery of account verification codes and password-reset emails.

4. Data storage and security

Cloud data is protected by row-level security (RLS): each user can access only their own data. All transport is encrypted with HTTPS. Account session credentials are stored in your device's encrypted secure storage.

5. Your rights and account deletion

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. To delete your account and all associated data, email the address below stating your registered email address; we will process the request within 30 working days.

6. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be published on this page and the effective date revised.
