These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Bingyan Dou, independent developer ("we", "us"), governing your use of the Fambook mobile application ("the App"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, and at least 16 years old if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (or the higher minimum age set by your country). By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. If you use the App on behalf of a household, you confirm you are authorised to enter into these Terms.
You can create an account with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Please notify us at dosmallnw@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised. One person, one account; do not share your account with others or impersonate anyone.
Fambook is a personal bookkeeping tool. It lets you record income and expenses, tag them by category and by a family-member label you create, set budgets, run savings plans, view statistics, and export your data. Your ledger is stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to our cloud.
Optional AI-assisted features can read a receipt photo, turn spoken or pasted text into a transaction, and generate a short daily reflection on your spending. Details of how these work and what data they involve are in the Privacy Policy.
AI output is probabilistic and can be wrong. Receipt recognition may misread an amount, a date or a category; speech recognition may mishear you; the daily review is generated text and may be imprecise or unhelpful. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting every entry before you rely on it. We make no warranty that AI output is accurate, complete or fit for any purpose. AI features are subject to a daily fair-use limit; when the limit is reached, or when the service is slow or unavailable, the App falls back to manual entry or to an on-device rule-based summary. We may change, limit, or discontinue AI features.
Do not submit content you have no right to submit, and do not use the AI features to process other people's personal information without a lawful basis.
You own your data. Your transactions, notes, member labels, budgets and savings plans are yours. We claim no ownership of them. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, back up, sync and process your content so that we can operate the App for you — for example, transmitting a receipt photo to our AI provider when you ask us to recognise it. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
We will not use your ledger content for advertising, will not sell it, and will not use it to train AI models.
Use the in-app CSV export to keep your own copy. While we take reasonable care, we do not guarantee against data loss, and we are not a backup service.

Free features remain free. Losing an active subscription does not delete your ledger, and you can still export your data.
You can stop using the App at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, email dosmallnw@gmail.com from your registered address with the subject "Delete my Fambook account"; we will verify and complete deletion within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details. Deletion is permanent — export anything you want to keep first. Cancelling a subscription is separate and must be done through Apple (§7).
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, or if we are required to by law. Except where a breach is severe or where the law requires immediate action, we will give you notice and a reasonable chance to fix the problem, and a chance to export your data.
We provide the App as an independent developer, on a best-effort basis. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any feature, and we may need downtime for maintenance or because a third-party provider (Supabase, Anthropic, Apple, RevenueCat) is unavailable. If we discontinue the App entirely, we will give reasonable advance notice so you can export your data.
The App itself — its code, design, name, logo and content we create — is owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. These Terms give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. No other rights are granted.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that AI output or any calculation will be accurate.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of your country of residence. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from or relating to your use of the App — including financial decisions you make based on the App, inaccurate AI output, or loss of or inability to access your data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your unlawful use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of a third party. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
You acknowledge that:
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also enjoy the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, and nothing here deprives you of the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country where the law gives you that right.
Before starting any formal dispute, please email dosmallnw@gmail.com — we would much rather resolve it directly and quickly.
We may update these Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will notify you in the App before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the App and you may request account deletion.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, on notice to you. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the App. The English version of these Terms is the authoritative version; translations are provided for convenience.
